BCHS Athletics during the Pandemic

July 6, 2020
BCHS is now able to allow athletic teams to meet following the Indiana High School Athletic Association (IHSAA) guidelines, including a three-phased pathway for the return of education-based athletics. Athletic Director Mike Ford has created an outline of the three-phased pathways of return. Please take the time to read this plan, for the answers to many of your questions.

Face masks are expected for all attendees unless the CDC expected physical distancing can be accomplished. Over the next several weeks it is important for all members of the Bishop Chatard community to follow all guidance communicated. The IHSAA will continue to provide clarifications and further guidance for the safe return of athletic activities. Further information will be posted here as needed.

COVID-19 DAILY Monitoring Form

Each player, coach, manager and any others associated with conditioning, practice or teams need to DAILY submit the monitoring form below before participating in athletics for the day. This allows BCHS to be proactive in recognizing the symptoms of COVID-19 and responding appropriately.

Submit the Daily Monitoring Form

  • If you are not feeling well or have any of the symptoms listed on the form, please do not come to practice.
  • Students will need to show the email with their responses at Door #10 as they arrive.
It is essential for the Bishop Chatard community to work together to prevent the introduction and spread of COVID-19 in the school environment and in the community. It is important for students and coaches to stay home if they exhibit any of the following COVID-19-related symptoms:
  • A fever of 100.4° F or greater
  • Cough
  • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
  • Chills
  • Repeated shaking with chills
  • Muscle pain
  • Headache
  • Sore throat
  • New loss of taste or smell
  • Congestion/runny nose
  • Nausea, vomiting
  • Diarrhea
