Jack Steadham advances to State Swimming; Team places 5th in Sectional

Boys swimming team placed 5th out of 13 teams in the 2023 sectionals: a great accomplishment. The team members had some impressive individual performances as well.
  • Congratulations to Jack Steadham, who finished 2nd in the 50 free and advanced to state competition at the IUPUI Natatorium, Feb. 24-25.
  • Donovan McMahon finished 5th in diving.
  • The Boys Medley Relay and the 200 Free Relay both had strong showings and finished in the top three.
Overall, the team had a lot of talented swimmers who contributed to the team’s success throughout the season. It’s great to see a group of individuals come together and achieve something collectively, and the boys’ team did just that. Congratulations to all the team members on a great season!

Girls Basketball is 2023 Regional Champion

Congratulations to the BCHS girls basketball team, as they won the 2023 3A Regional with a 52-48 win over Cascade (21-2) on Feb. 11, 2023. This is the second year in a row that they won the regional.

In semi-state semi-finals, the Lady Trojans met Indian Creek. Leading at half-time, 29-28, they weren’t able to hold on and lost 76-47, ending their Cinderella run.

Girls sectional team

The Lady Trojans advanced to the championship game vs Heritage Christian by an overtime win vs Guerin Catholic, 45 – 43 and a 33-32 win over Brebeuf Jesuit.

The game vs Heritage Christian (17-8) was a barn-burner. The two teams met during the regular season, where BCHS lost 62-55 and the City Tourney, where BCHS lost 52-36. But, the Lady Trojans prevailed in the sectional championship matchup, 61-57, in a double overtime win.

5 Wrestlers advance to 2023 Semi-State

Congratulations to the following BCHS wrestlers, who advanced to the 2023 Semi-State contest. The team placed 4th in the Regionals. Pictured above are those advancing to the Semi-State. At the semi-state, all wrestlers made it to the ‘ticket round’ where their season came to an end.

BCHS Girls Swimming places 4th; Grace Hurley advances to State Diving

Swimming Sectionals

The Bishop Chatard Girls swim team had an outstanding performance at the 2023 Sectional Meet at North Central High School, finishing 4th out of 12 teams. This was the best finish for the Girls team in recent history and the team put forth some impressive results.

The highlight of the meet was the Medley Relay, with Hanna Ross, Marguerite Bourgeois, Katie Countryman, and Gabriella Herner, breaking the school record with a time of 1:58:38. This was an exceptional accomplishment for the team.

Katie Countryman was a standout performer, breaking her own school record in the 50 Free with a time of 24.64 and placing 4th in the 100 Fly with a time of 1:00.38. Hanna Ross also had a strong showing, placing 7th in the 100 Free and 8th in the 100 Back. Marguerite Bourgeois finished 13th in the 200 IM and 12th in the 100 Breast. Other notable performances included Mary-Claire McCarthy Young placing 15th in the 200 IM, Gabby Herner placing 11th in the 500 Free, Ann Zyromski placing 16th in the 500 Free, and Elaine Dilts, Gabby Herner, Hanna Ross and Katie Countrymen placing 4th in the 200 free. The cheering was especially loud as the four senior girls closed out the last event: Gabi Pozsgai, Millie Teeple, Avery Nagel and Maisie McMahon who showed great technique and speed in the 400 Free Relay.

Diving – Grace Hurley heads to State Competition

Diving was also a strong point for the Bishop Chatard Girls. Grace Hurley won the sectional Meet and advanced to Regionals on Feb. 7. She placed 2nd there, advancing to the State Meet on Feb. 11 at IUPUI. Good luck Grace!

Overall, it was an incredible performance by the Bishop Chatard Girls swim and diving team. Congratulations to all the girls on a fantastic meet and best of luck to Grace Hurley as she competes at the State Meet!

The BCHS Girls Swimming/Diving team won the 2022 Girls City Meet, and the Boys team placed second in the Boys competition. Individual champions in city competition were:

2022 Football: 3A State Champions

Congratulations to the BCHS football team and coaches, as the Trojans defeated Lawrenceburg, 34-14, for the 2022 3A State Championship. This is the 16th state football championship for the school. Aiden Duncan received the Blake Ress IHSAA Mental Attitude Award.

How they got there

Semi-State Results

The Trojans defeated #1-ranked West Lafayette, 21-3, in the Semi-State gameey will meet Lawrenceburg in the State Championship game on Saturday, Nov. 26, at 3:00 p.m. at Lucas Oil Stadium.

Regional Results The BCHS Trojan football team defeated Yorktown, 42-14, to capture the Regional title on Nov. 11, 2022.

Sectional Results BCHS advanced to the Regionals with a 47-19 win over Northwestern (Kokomo), a 41-14 win over Hamilton Heights and the sectional championship win over Guerin Catholic, 49-13.

2022 Cross Country at State – Lily Cridge is Champion!

Congratulations! Lily Cridge is the 2022 State Cross Country champion, the second year in a row. She finished in 17:14.6, surpassing her time of 17:32.7 last year. Freshman Julia Score placed 10th in State! Max Bourgeois finishing 77th in the boys race!

Semi-State Results

The girls cross country team, though short-handed, placed a very respectable 9th in the extremely competitive Shelbyville semi-state meet.

Lily Cridge and Julia Score qualified for the State XC Meet! Lily won the semi-state race in a course record time (16:58) and Julia finished a strong 5th!

The boys team placed 7th at the ultra-competitive Shelbyville semi-state meet, 1 place out of advancing to the state finals.

Max Bourgeois placed 25th overall to qualify for the state meet as in individual!


Regional Results

The boys cross country team placed 5th in regionals and qualified for the 2022 Semi State meet! JD Haines & Max Bourgeois earned All Regional honors! Also, all 7 runners ran PRs at the meet.

The girls cross country team placed 4th at the Noblesville Regional to qualify for Semi State! Lily Cridge (1st) and Julia Score (5th) earned All Regional honors! Also, Lily broke the regional and course record, and 5 out of 7 girls had PR’s!

Boys Cross Country wins Sectional!

The boys cross country team won the 2022 Sectional at Brebeuf! The team was led with top 20 finishes from JD Haines (3rd), Ian Kolbus (5th), and Davis Falcon (6th), and Max Bourgeois (11th)! Aaron Loiselle, Eli Hummel, and Jack Dixon also had strong races for the Trojans to help propel the team to victory!

Girls Cross Country places second in Sectional

Congratulations to the Girls Cross Country team as they placed 2nd in Sectionals at Brebeuf and advanced to the Noblesville Regionals on Oct. 15.

Lily Cridge was the sectional champion and broke her own course record with a time of 16:46! Julia Score (4th) and Ceci Jackson (15th) also made the All-Sectional team! Caroline Clapacs, Alex Teed, Maggie Rushenberg, and Caroline Bell also had great races for the Trojans and helped the team advance to the next round!

Girls Soccer: 2022 Regional Champions

Team play at the regionals

Congratulations to the BCHS Girls Soccer team as they defeated Danville in Regional semi-finals, 6-0 and Lawrenceburg in the Regional Final game, 1-0, to become 2022 Regional Champions.

The girls team lost to Evansville Memorial in the semi-state game, 2-0.


Sectional Results The #5 ranked BCHS Lady Trojan Soccer team won the sectional title with a 7-0 win over Lebanon. The Lady Trojans defeated Guerin Catholic, 3-2 and Brebeuf 3-1 to advance to the championship game.

Boys & Girls Cross Country: 2022 City Champions!

Congratulations to the boys and girls cross country teams, as they both are 2022 City Champions!

For the Lady Trojans, Lily Cridge was the individual city champion. Julia Score (2nd), Ceci Jackson (3rd), Alex Teed (5th), Caroline Clapacs (8th), and Maggie Rushenberg (9th) also earned All-City honors!

For the boys team, JD Haines placed second, followed by Davis Falcon (3rd) and Ian Kolbus (4th). Aaron Loiselle was 10th. All these earned All-City honors!

This is the second year in a row that both teams earned the City Championship title.
