Lexi Padgett bowled with heart and gusto at the Semi State tournament in Anderson on Sat, Feb. 11. 36 girls competed for 12 positions to advance to the State Tournament and Lexi was 13th going into the 3 game but dropped slightly upon it’s completion. This is nearly an unheard of accomplishment for Bishop Chatard-one of our Bowlers made it to Semi State and came so close to moving on. She even bowled with a broken toe and was a super strong competitor! Lexi bowled with her usual style of fun and camaraderie for all during the games. She was a joy to watch this morning. We are so very proud of her accomplishments during this bowling season. Way to go Lexi-you show us all how much fun bowling can be and what a Bishop Chatard Trojan (grace, humility, strength, compassion and competitiveness among other things) truly is! Let’s hear it for our Trojan Bowler!

The Bishop Chatard Athletic Office is pleased to announce that Freshman Head Football Coach Rob Doyle will assume the responsibilities of Varsity Head Coach effective January 27, 2017. Coach Doyle was elevated to the position as the result of a search and interview process that followed Coach Vince Lorenzano’s retirement from the football program in December.
Athletic Director Mike Ford expressed his excitement about Coach Doyle taking the reins of the varsity program. “He brings a wealth of playing and coaching acumen of over 30 years. We were blest to have several strong candidates both external and internal to BCHS interested in becoming our new head coach,” Mr. Ford said. “Their passion and interest speaks well of not only our history, but also the future of Bishop Chatard football.”
Coach Doyle played football at both Andrean High School and DePauw University, and is a member of the Hall of Fame at both schools. He began his coaching career in the CYO program where he coached and served as football coordinator and athletic director for St. Pius X Parish in Indianapolis. He has been a coach at Bishop Chatard for the past 12 years, working with both the freshman and varsity programs.
“I am deeply appreciative to the administration of Bishop Chatard for providing me with the opportunity to lead our grand program,” Coach Doyle said. “Bishop Chatard High School is a special place, and I look forward to working with our teachers, families and student athletes to provide the best academic, spiritual and football experience possible.”
Doyle is also a partner in the Indianapolis law firm Due Doyle Fanning & Alderfer LLP.
“This is a unique situation and opportunity as Coach Doyle is a prominent attorney who is modifying his practice in order to lead our football program going forward,” Mr. Ford said. Coach Doyle explained that he will be spending more time at Bishop Chatard as a result of accepting the varsity head coach position, and with the assistance of his law partners and staff he is confident that client needs will continue to be met.
