Lily Cridge is 2023 City Female Athlete of the Year

June 2, 2023

Congratulations to Lily Cridge, Class of 2023, who was named City Female Athlete of the Year. Although she was sidelined for her senior spring track season, she is one of the most accomplished distance runners in Indiana state history. She won the state cross-country title as a junior by 32 seconds and as a senior in a course record-setting time. She also won a state title in track. The award recognizes athletic accomplishments as well as academics and excellence in their personal lives.

“I think she’s the best cross-country runner in the history of Indiana,” said Dan Kinghorn, the longtime cross-country and track distance coach at Chatard. “That’s my opinion. She’s the most motivated person I’ve met, not only at practice, but all day, every day. She’s always making sure she’s doing all the little things — eating, sleeping, nutrition. I’ve never coached anyone who has paid that close of attention to the details.” 1
