Boys Track Team is 2021 City Champion!

The 2021 BCHS Boys Trojan Track Team battled Cathedral High School back and forth all meet and ended up winning by 4.75 points to win the 2021 City Team Title. The following athletes or relays were city champs:

  • Matt Coons – Long Jump
  • Jackson Bolen – 200 meters
  • Nate Joven: 300 low hurdles
  • 4 x 800 relay of Max Bourgeois, Connor Moriarty, Will Johnson and Andrew Thrasher.
  • 4 x 100 relay of Matt Coons, Thomas Coleman, Andre Moore and Jackson Bolen
  • 4 x 400 relay of Nate Joven, Mike Nash, Thomas Coleman and Jackson Bolen

With it being such a close meet, it was a true team effort and the following athletes were a big part of the victory: RJ Bradshaw, Brady Braun, Davis Falcon, Zach Fillenwarth, Ian Kolbus, Danny O’Gara, Jackson Shaw, Joey Thatcher, Cole Weber and Kelly Woods.

Jackson Bolen was named the most outstanding athlete of the meet for his stellar performances in the 200 meters and the relays.

The 2021 BCHS Lady Trojan Track Team claimed their 11th City Championship in row while breaking a meet record scoring 211 points. The following athletes or relays were city champs:

  • Mayan Stickel – 400 meters and high jump
  • Emily Loiselle – 800 meters
  • Lily Cridge – 1600 and 3200 meters
  • Emma Stapleton – Pole Vault
  • 4 x 800 relay of Addison Duncan, Alex Tedd, Alex Gantz and Emily Loiselle.

The following athletes all scored varsity points and were a big part of the victory: Anna McGinley, Arianna Chavis, Camerson Stevenson, Moira McGinley, Caroline Bell, Deirdre Hostettler, Bri Buels, Jackie Figura, Mara Foley, Mary Bea Sowinski Grace Felts and Mallory Stewart.

Lily Cridge broke the city record in the 1600 and 3200 meters while setting a new school record in the 1600 meters.

Boys Freshman Basketball is 2021 City Champion!

Congratulations to the Bishop Chatard Freshman Boys Basketball Team – the 2021 Freshman City Champions! The Trojans celebrated a 60-45 victory over Arsenal Tech on February 20 in the championship game. The team finishes their season with an 11-game winning streak to bring their record to 19-6. Way to go Trojans!

Meet the Girls Lacrosse Coach Julie Jerrell

February 23, 2021

Julie Jerrell begins her 13th year as the head coach of the Bishop Chatard Girls’ Lacrosse program. She learned to play in New Hampshire and continued through college at Purdue University and post-collegiate programs in Chicago, South Florida, North Carolina and Indiana. Julie has coached and officiated girls youth through collegiate programs and she continues to promote growth of the sport and skill level of athletes throughout Indiana.

Coach Jerrell is assisted by a strong group of Bishop Chatard Alumi giving back to their school and team: Kelly Burger (3rd year, BC ‘15, Butler Women’s Lacrosse ‘19), Riley (McDonald) Meiner (2nd year, BC ‘15, Xavier Women’s Lacrosse ‘19), Bailey O’Brien (1st year, BC ’16, Marian University Lacrosse ‘20), and Jon Grant (2nd year, goalies’ coach, ATC extraordinaire).

Grace Hurley is 10th in State Diving Finals!

Congratulations to sophomore Grace Hurley as she placed 10th in the 2021 State Diving Finals! Grace has won the City & Conference Diving Championships this season, and placed 2nd in Sectional & Regional Championships to advance to the finals for the second year in a row!

Girls Basketball Wins 2021 Sectional Title

Congratulations to the BCHS Varsity Girls Basketball team as they won the 2021 Class 3A Sectional Title with a 65-58 win over Heritage Christian at Heritage Christian. This was the third time this season they met and defeated the Heritage team.

In regional play, they defeated Brownstown Central in the first game, 53-47 but fell short in the Regionals Championship game vs Tri-West, 72-60.

Eli Bustamante advances to Semi-State Wrestling; 7 wrestlers advanced to regionals

Junior Eli Bustamante has qualified for the New Castle 2021 Wrestling Semi-State on Feb. 13, 2021. He has also won City & Sectional titles this season in the 152 pound weight division.

Girls Varsity Basketball is 2021 City Champion!

Congratulations to the BCHS Girls Varsity Basketball Team — 2021 City Champions with a basket at the buzzer for a 62-61 win over Heritage Christian. Junior Izzy Davis made her only basket count as she hit a short foot jump shot at the buzzer. Zakia Rasheed, who had 28 points and 5 assists in the game, had the presence of mind & unselfishness to set Izzy up with a phenomenal assist! Great teamwork!!

They had advanced to this final championship with a win over Cathedral, 57-50. With a record of 12-6 for the season, they are in the top 15 teams in the state!
