      In our first meet of the season, boys came out strong against Decatur Central and Speedway High Schools. The boys finished second with 112 points. Donovan McMahon, Oliver Gebke, and Bobby Forsee took 1st, 2nd, and 3rd in diving! Way to go boys! Other outstanding swims by Jack Steadham, Max Bourgeois, Aaron Loiselle, and Patrick Countryman, Danny O’Gara, Alex Paz, and Ethan Evans.

      In this Double-Duel meet against Lawrence North and Brebuef, Chatard boys walked away with a 1st and 2nd place spot. Chatard 30 v Lawrence North 72. Chatard 52 v Brebuef 49.

      With tough competition from 6 other schools, boys finished in 4th place. This meet is a non-traditional swim meet in that it only consists of different relays. Our 400 Medley Relay consisting of Jack, Danny, Aaron, and Max won with a time of 3.55.50 and set a new meet record. Danny, Aaron, and Max broke another meet record with a 1:30.01 in the 150 Breastroke Relay.

      City Diving Meet Prelims
      Place 1st & 2nd

      Friday night we met at Tech High School. It was a small crowd but made for a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. Donovan and Bobby sought tough competition between themselves! Both boys went home with new personal records, Donovan took first with a score of 380.35 and Bobby second with a score of 239.85. The diver’s scores were taken and added to our final results for Saturday.

      Having the meet start at 3:00 was, I believe, a blessing for us. Swimmers showed up to school upbeat, rested, and ready to go. We could not have predicted the meet to start any better than it did. The boys medley (Jack, Max, Aaron, and Patrick) placed first with the time of 1:42.77. This also beat the BCHS record of 1:42.81. WOW! Aaron Loiselle took first in 200 IM with a 2:07.53. Jack Steadham broke his own PR in the 50 with a new time of 22.06 with Patrick Countryman right behind him third with 23.53. Aaron placed second in the 100 fly with a 56.84. Patrick took second in 100 free with a 52.66 with Alex Paz rounding out top 8 with a 59.08. Max Bourgeois was right behind with a first place in the 500 with a 5:10.80. Boys 200 free (Patrick, Jack, Aaron, Max) rocked a first-place finish with a time of 1:33.26. Jack Steadham broke another personal record in the 100 back with a 55.32. Max Bourgeois took first in the 100 breaststroke with a 1:05.64 and Danny O’Gara scored third with a 1:09.05. The boys took an amazing second place.

      Boys Swimming and Diving took second to Shelbyville and second to Batesville. With only 4 boys in attendance, they competed strong. Aaron Loiselle took 1st in the 200 Individual Medley and 100 Fly. Jack Steadham took 1st in the 50 Free and 100 Back. Danny O’Gara took 3rd in the 200 Free and third in the 100 Free. Justin Garing took 6th in the 50 free and 4th in the 100 Breastroke. This was a double-duel meet.

      After a year off, boys swimming and diving gave number 1 Brebeuf a tough go. Out of 21 teams, BCHS boys placed 2nd, which is a huge jump from our 8th place finish in 2020. Boys Medley Relay took first place to kick off the meet. Jack Steadham took first in the 50 free, continuing to break his own personal and school record, as well as in the 100 back. Donovan McMahon took first in diving, with Oliver Gebke taking second. Great job, boys!

      Boys Swimming and Diving placed 4th overall, out of 12 teams in our 2022 Sectional Final Meet. We followed North Central, Franklin Central, and Lawrence North. The boy’s team did an outstanding job and had fantastic swims. Boys Medley Relay with Jack Steadham, Max Bourgeois, Aaron Loiselle, and Patrick Countryman ended their season with a personal best time in the event and getting a new school record time of 1:41.33. Jack Steadham broke his 50 free record with a time of 21.85 and finished 4th. Donovan McMahon finished 3rd, advancing on to Regionals, and Oliver Gebke rounded out the top 8. The 200 Free Relay, Max Bourgeois, Jack Steadham, Aaron Loiselle, and Patrick Countryman had the pleasure of picking the walk-out song since they were seated first in the event. They finished 3rd overall, with a new personal best and school record of 1:31.24. Great season, boys!

      Girls competed in a tri-meet tonight against Decatur Central and Speedway High Schools. Madison Loiselle, Marguerite Bourgeois, Hanna Ross, and Gabriella Herner took 1st in the Medley Relay with Peyton Bean, Mia Todd, Mary-Claire McCarthy-Young and Jackie Figura right behind in 3rd. We had great dives from Hadley Bruce, Theresa Surinak, Annemarie Creamer and Annabel McCarthy-Young. It’s looking to be a great season!

      In the Double-Duel meet against Lawrence North and Brebeuf, Chatard took second to both schools. Chatard 27 v. Lawrence North 75. Chatard 28 v. Brebeuf 74. Lawrence North brought the competition with strong swimmers and pushed us. Overall, we had fantastic swims for this early in the season. We had 23 girls participate in 50 Free, with girls scoring points in 5th, 6th, and 7th place. Jackie Figura (28.10) took 5th, Makenzie Massengale (30.74) 6th, and Sarah Christoff (30.74) 7th. They were followed by Anna Zyronski, Kaitlyn Selvaggo, Dierdre Hostelter, Maggie Timpe, Emmy Fox, Annabel McCarthy-Young, Grace Miller, Emma Welty, Gabi Pozsgai, Millie Teeple, Claire O’Gara, Jordan Geise, Annemaire Creamer, Helen Cline, Ali Pozsgai, Hope Bultinck, Catherine Joven, Alex Teed, Lucy Acklin, and Zoe Williamson. Great job, girls!

      In this Double-Duel meet against Lawrence Central and Cardinal Ritter, Chatard girls took first against both teams. Chatard 45 v Lawrence Central 45. Chatard v. Cardinal Ritter 25. We had two amazing 200 Medley Relays kick off the meet. Grace Miller, Claire O’Gara, Mary-Claire McCarthy-Young, and Maddie Barber came in 2nd. Anna Zyronski, Emma Welty, Maisie McMahon, and Millie Teeple came in 3rd. Grace Hurley won diving and broke her 6-dive record with a score of 264.45. We ended the night with our 400 Free Relay. Alex Teed, Anna Zyronski, Gabi Pozsgai, and Helen Cline took 2nd while Zoe Williamson, Ali Pozsgai, Catherine Joven, and Lucy Acklin took 4th.

      With tough competition from 6 other schools, girls finished in 6th place overall. This meet is a non-traditional swim meet in that it only consists of different relays. All girls had the opportunity to participate in one relay, at different levels. We took the opportunity to test the girls at different levels. Peyton Bean and Hanna Ross competed in the 1000 Free Relay; each girl swim a 500. They finished 4th in this event.

      2021 marks our girls being back-to-back city champs! Having the meet start at 3:00 was, I believe, a blessing for us. Swimmers showed up to school upbeat, rested, and ready to go. We could not have predicted the meet to start any better than it did. Girls medley relay with Maddie Loiselle, Mia Todd, Hanna Ross, and Jackie Figura, kicked us off with a first-place finish, and a PR in the event of 2:02.38. Avery Nagel took third in the 200 Free with a 2:29.30. Maddie Loiselle took second in the 200 IM with a 2:30.14 while Mary-Claire McCarthy-Young took third with 2:45.19. Jackie Figura fought for second in the 50 free with a 28.10 with Peyton Bean rounding out the top 8 with a 29.99. Hanna Ross took a triumphant first in the 100 free with a 58.57. Gabriella Herner swam her way into first in the 500 with a 5:53.23. Girls 200 free relay with Jackie Figura, Mia Todd, Gabriella Herner, and Hanna Ross took first with a 1:49.92. Maddie Loiselle took first in 100 back with a 1:05.52. Marguerite Bourgeois took second in the 100 breaststroke with a 1:21.55 with Mia Todd coming in close behind with a 1:21.93 to take third. We wrapped up the meet with the girls 400 free relay with Gabriella Herner, Maddie Loiselle, Mary-Claire McCarthy-Young, and Hanna Ross taking first with a 4:06.75.

      In this Double-Duel meet, Chatard girls swimming and diving walked away with both a 1st place finish and a tie. Chatard 49 v. Shelbyville 48. Chatard 49 v. Batesville 49. Grace Hurley started the meet with Diving and was the only representative for diving. We enjoyed seeing girls swim in different events, really pushing themselves to different comfort levels.

      Girls place 3rd in our Circle City Conference Meet held at Brownsburg High School. Diver Grace Hurley rocked the boards with the best score of 485.85, breaking the record (set by herself in 2020) of 449.55.

      Trojan Girls placed 3rd out of 21 teams in our 2022 Schools With No Pools Invite. We did not have this meet in 2021 due to Covid concerns and it was great to get the team back in IUPUI’s Natatorium. Both Medley Relay’s finished 2nd in their events. Anna Zyromski had an outstanding swim in the 50 and 100 Freestyle, taking a personal best in both events. Peyton Bean’s 500 also was set at a personal best. Great job to all the girls that participated!

      This year’s JV Invite took place at Warren Central due to pool difficulties at Lawrence North. All the girls competing went best times in their event and had a successful day in the water!       Girls placed 6th out of 12 teams in our 2022 Sectional Meet at North Central High School. Our Medly Relay with Maddie Loiselle, Mia Todd, Hanna Ross, and Gabriella Herner, took first with a time of 2:00.94. All girls went a personal best time in the relay and this became our best time for the season! Jackie Figura went a personal best time of 27.74 in the 50 Free. Peyton Bean dropped 13 seconds in her 500 Freestyle to go a personal best time of 6:35.75. Congratulations to all our girls on a fantastic season!
