Girls Basketball Preseason Workout Schedule

Girls Basketball preseason workouts for any girl interested in playing basketball this season are now scheduled. These workouts are intended for those not participating in a fall sport. These workouts are NOT mandatory. Workouts are:
  • Sept. 3 (T), Sept. 5 (Th): 7-8 p.m. , Aux. Gym
  • Sept. 10 (T): 3-3:30-4:30 p.m., Main Gym
  • Sept. 12 (Th): 7-8:00 p.m., Aux. Gym
  • Sept. 17 (T), Sept. 24 (T), Sept 26 (Th), Oct. 1 (T), Oct. 3 (Th): 3:30-4:30 p.m., Main Gym

Girls Basketball Jr. Trojan League: Registration is open

Grades 5-8

Tryouts for girls in grades 5-8 interested in playing Jr. Trojans in the 2019-2020 winter league of IGHL (Indiana Girls Hoops League) have been scheduled.
  • Date: Sunday, September 29, 2019
  • Time: 7-8 Grades 1:00-2:00 p.m.
  • Time: 5-6 Grades:2:30-3:30pm
  • Location: Bishop Chatard High School. Enter door #10
  • This will be a true tryout for these grade levels, with at least one team per grade level
  • Cost: $150 per player

Become a part of the 2019/20 BCHS Jr. Trojans!! All girls, grades 3-4, interested in playing competitive basketball in the IGHL (Indiana Girls Hoops League): Games will be played on Sundays in November 2019 through February 2020. Game times are TBA. Cost is $150/player.

What is IGHL?

IGHL is a competitive girls basketball league that includes many area schools. Games are played on Sundays at various school locations around the area. Games begin in November and run through February with a break during Christmas. Grades 7 – 8 play two games every week through December. Grades 3 to 6 play two games every other week through February. Game schedules are released the week of games.

Lorenzano honored as Indiana Football Hall of Fame inductee

On Friday, July 12, during halftime of the 2019 Indiana Football Coaches Association North-South All-Star Football Classic, retired head football coach Vince Lorenzano will be recognized for being accepted into the Indiana Football Hall of Fame. BCHS Class of 2019 graduate Will Meyer, a 2018 football team captain and lineman for the Trojans, will represent Bishop Chatard in the game. Action will begin at 7:15 p.m. at North Central High School, and members of the Trojan community are encouraged to attend to support Coach Lorenzano and Will. Tickets are available at the gate: $10/adults and $5/students. Coach Lorenzano served as head football coach at Bishop Chatard for 14 years, from the 2003 through the 2016 football season. During that time, the Trojan football team won seven Indiana state championships, taking home the trophy in 2003, 2006, 2007, 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2015. During his tenure, the team also accrued a number of sectional, regional and state-runner up titles. He began his coaching career at Scecina Memorial High School in 1983 and his career included assistant and head coach positions at Cathedral, Cardinal Ritter and Mississinewa high schools. Lorenzano retired from coaching in December 2016, and he continues to serve at Bishop Chatard as the school’s Director of Safety & Wellness.
