The Trojan boys finished 4th at Sectionals, for their highest finish since 2022 and most points since 2015.
Donovan McMahon won the diving event, punching his ticket to Regionals on Tuesday (2/25) at Plainfield. The meet starts at 6:00 pm.
On the swimming side, the boys built on their successes from Thursday. In the medley relay, Kellen Ford (29.66), Tommy O’Gara (34.16), Sebastian Bourgeois (27.47), and Marcus Monachino (24.65) dropped over a second from their prelims performance to finish 7th.
Next up was Sebastian in the 200 IM, who dropped a second from his prelims time to lower his lifetime best to 2:15.38 and finish 11th.
The 50 free was huge for the Trojans, as Alex Paz finished 2nd (22.54), Marin Bonhomme finished 4th (22.85), and Santiago Cutchin finished 6th (23.28).
In diving, Donovan got the victory with a score of 476.85, and Ethan Lyon finished 9th with 222.75 points.
Santi (59.78) and Sebastian (1:02.51) both dropped time in the 100 fly to finish 11th and 16th.
The Trojans had three outstanding performances in the 100 free. In the B final, Tommy dropped from his prelims time to finish 16th in 59.50, and Kellen dropped over a second from prelims to win the B final in a new lifetime best of 52.72. Swimming in the A final, Alex dropped 1.3 seconds to finish 5th with a 49.91.
The 200 free relay was one of the most exciting races I’ve seen in a while. Santi (23.26), George Park (23.74), Marin (22.59), and Alex (21.99) combined for a 1:31.58. Despite outstanding splits on the first three legs, Alex dove in nearly 3 seconds behind North Central and rocketed to close the gap, finishing just 0.36 seconds back. Looking at the other Sectionals, the Trojan relay was the 41st fastest in the state.
In the 100 breaststroke B final, Sean O’Gara improved on his seed, finishing 15th in 1:17.88. In the A final, Marin had an excellent swim to finish 5th in 1:03.53.
In the 400 free relay, Santi (51.23), Kellen (53.65), Marin (50.31), and Alex (49.64) combined for a 3:24.83—just 0.61 off the school record—to finish third.

Congratulations to the Trojan Girls for an outstanding Sectionals! The Trojans built on their excellent prelim swims on Thursday to outperform themselves on Saturday. The girls were seeded to score 151 points and finish 7th, but they scored 164 points to move up to 5th!
The team of Addie Fleming (33.96), Cassie Hunt (40.42), Allison Loiselle (33.33), and Makenzie Messengale (28.86) held their seed in the medley relay to finish 8th. Addie stepped up big to fill in on the backstroke leg despite not having swum a backstroke race all season.
Katie Countryman is your Sectional Champion in the 200 free, qualifying for next week’s State Championships! She swam a 1:54.33 to drop over 2 seconds off her lifetime best, set a new school record, and win by over 2 seconds. In the B final, Sophia Reed went for it, flipping at the 100 in a time faster than her best 100 before this meet. She finished 15th in a time of 2:20.27.
In the 200 IM, Allison dropped 4 seconds from her prelims time and notched a new lifetime best to move up 2 places and finish 12th with a 2:39.80.
Hanna Ross capitalized on her opportunity in the A final of the 50 free to finish 5th with a 25.33. The time was by nearly a second faster than she went in prelims and half-second improvement on her lifetime best.
Katie scorched the field by 2 seconds again in the 100 fly, setting a new lifetime best and Bishop Chatard record in 57.11, clipping the automatic qualifying standard for State.
The 200 free relay, Hanna (25.47), Elaine Dilts (27.52), Addie (27.66), and Katie (23.43) combined for a 1:44.08. Katie’s 23.42 split was the fastest of all swimmers in the field, and the team out touched Franklin Central for second in a massive upset.
In the next event, with only about 10 minutes rest, Hanna turned on the jets in her 100 back to go from 8th to 4th, dropping 2 seconds from her prelims time for a 1:03.89.
The biggest time drop of the day came in the 400 free relay, which saw Hanna (55.75), Sophia (1:01.96), Elaine (1:01.54), and Katie (52.32) each put up lifetime bests to finish 3rd in 3:51.57.
With her two event wins, Katie earned berths into the State Championship meet, where she will represent the Trojans in the 200 free and 100 fly
